Laser surface texturing and patterning

Laser surface texturing is the process of adding nano- and micro-scale features and patterns to the surface(s) of parts. Laser surface texturing can help your products unlock a number of diverse surface functionalities: wetting (hydrophobic or hydrophilic) properties for self-cleaning applications, optical properties relying on diffraction of light for aesthetic applications (logos), anti-microbial properties that prevents bacteria adhesion to the surface of your parts, controlled friction performance of surfaces by either increasing or decreasing the friction coefficient.

Laser micro-processing & ablation

Laser micro-structuring is the process of controlled removal of material (ablation) from a material substrate.  FemtoTime can realise both cold ablation (no material thermalisation) as well as thermal ablation. We can process variety of materials, including transparent polymers and glasses, metals (steel alloys, titanium, aluminium, copper, brass, bulk metallic glasses), and semicondcutors.

Laser micro-drilling & cutting and laser polishing

Laser micro-drilling is the process of creating through structures in a material substrate. FemtoTime can produce high aspect ratio features in a variety of materials. Minimum hole diameters in the range of 30-50 μm are achievable, while we can also produce controlled taper holes with taper angle as low as 0.5 degrees.

Laser micro-cutting is the process of producing miniaturised parts by tracing the internal and external outlines of the parts. FemtoTime can cut your parts with minimum burr formation and high edge quality.

Laser Polishing is the process of improving the surface roughness of your parts by removing the surface asperities through localised material remelting. The process has been especially attractive for additively manufactured parts, where 95% improvement in the surface roughness could be achieved.
